Welcome!
My name is Grace Mulcahy and I am happy that you are here! Taking the initial step to begin counseling takes courage.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Kansas, as well as a Certified Perinatal Mental Health Therapist, and a certified EMDR therapist.
I have been in practice for 18 years. My work experience includes serving as the director of a college counseling center, providing therapy in K-12 public and private school settings, and within non-profit, community focused mental health organizations. I also serve as an educator and speaker for community groups, mental health providers and healthcare professionals. I have been providing mental health services to adults, children and families in the Atchison community for over 10 years. Working with the Atchison community has been an honor and a joy as you have allowed me to walk alongside you in your pursuit of a better quality of life.
My approach to therapy is grounded in the belief that you are resilient. Life can be difficult. Each of us will experience a time in life where we could benefit from therapy. Despite the challenging circumstances you have faced or currently face, you are capable of healing and there is hope for a joy-filled life. The brain and the body are designed to heal after experiencing trauma or pain, but at times it can be difficult without professional support and guidance. Together we will discuss and implement strategies to bring hope for your future as you learn new skills and discover your resilience. Therapy is hard work but you are not alone.
My goal is to create a safe, compassionate space for you to work through the issues that are getting in the way of living a joyful, purposeful life.
